As part of our collaboration with Block A Gallery, Kastanje presents a selection of contemporary Ukrainian artists at Kunstroute Aalsmeer 2025. The exhibition brings together both Ukrainian artists who continue to live and work in Ukraine under daily missile attacks and those who relocated to the Netherlands after the full-scale invasion.
Among the participating artists is Nikita Vlasov, a Ukrainian painter whose work explores identity, memory and emotional tension through expressive figurative compositions. Vlasov’s visual language combines raw immediacy with symbolic depth, reflecting the psychological landscape of Ukrainians during wartime.
Other featured artists include:
Andriy Bludov – a leading Ukrainian painter and professor at the National Academy of Arts and Architecture. His practice spans postmodernism, pop art and symbolism, shaped by his research in Asia and reflections on Ukrainian historical memory.
Ave Libertatemaveamor – known for her emotionally charged drawings created daily since 2022. Using felt-tip pens on thin paper, she documents resilience, trauma and cultural identity through intricate visual narratives.
Maria Dzhulai – a Ukrainian artist and photographer currently based in the Netherlands. Her paintings explore themes of inner transformation, light and personal healing.
Vita Khaidourova – a ceramic artist whose work merges graphic precision with the organic qualities of clay, creating expressive sculptural forms.
Yurii Musatov – an internationally exhibited ceramic artist and member of the UNESCO International Academy of Ceramics, whose works are held in major museum collections across Europe and Asia.
Natalia Korf-Ivaniuk – a painter whose large-scale works blend traditional Ukrainian motifs with contemporary techniques and have been exhibited across Europe.
The two days of the event were filled with meaningful conversations with visitors. Dutch audiences showed great interest in discovering the richness and diversity of the contemporary Ukrainian art scene, creating an atmosphere of genuine cultural exchange.
The presented artists showcase a powerful and diverse portrait of contemporary Ukrainian art, shaped by war, displacement, resilience and the enduring need for cultural expression.
