The Exhibition "War on My Canvas" took place from March 16 to April 13, 2024, in Amsterdam, at Suzanne Biederberg Gallery.
This unique exhibition brought together Ukrainian artists Anton Shebetko, EtchingRoom1, and En Rozen, as well as Dutch artist and curator Niek Verschoor. The exhibition showcased the emotional and historical impact of the war in Ukraine through multimedia art: photography, etching, installations and video art. Notably, the works of Anton Shebetko addressed the complexity of memory and LGBTQ+ experience under duress, while EtchingRoom1 presented works created in Berlin reflecting displacement, and Niek Verschoor focused on commemorative objects. The exhibition also featured a video artwork by En Rozen, who reflected on life in Kyiv during the war.
Over the course of the event, the gallery became a space for visitors to reflect and engage with the trauma, resilience, and creative force that emerge during conflict, resulting in greater awareness and empathy for Ukraine’s contemporary struggles.
Attendees were able to witness art as activism and solidarity—a testament to creative resistance and the enduring call for peace.
